Roundhouse South is an MTH National Authorized Service Center and Lionel Authorized Repair Dealer. If your engine isn't running right, your transformer is acting up, or you need warranty work — we can help. Most online train stores can sell you a product. We can fix it.
What We Repair
- All MTH O-Gauge engines — Proto 1, Proto 2, Proto 3, Premier, Railking, and Imperial
- MTH Transformers — Z1000 and Z4000
- MTH Accessories — DCS Systems (handheld, TIU, AIU) and operating accessories (gas station, firehouse, and similar)
- All MTH warranty work — handled in-house, no shipping to a third party
- Lionel O-Gauge engines — 1900 to 1990
- Diagnostic services — we can tell you exactly what's wrong and what it'll cost to fix before we touch it
How It Works
- Call or email us first. Describe what the train is doing (or not doing). We can often diagnose by phone and tell you whether it's worth shipping in.
- Ship it to us, or drop it off. If you're local, bring it by the store. If you're across the country, ship it carefully boxed (we can give you packing tips).
- We diagnose and quote. No surprises — you get an estimate before any work begins.
- We fix it and ship it back. Typical turnaround is 1–3 weeks depending on parts availability. Warranty work is handled per the manufacturer's terms.

Most online train retailers don't have a real shop. They sell new units in boxes and that's it. We've been repairing trains for 36 years — we've personally serviced thousands of engines and transformers, and seen every failure mode you can imagine. When you ship a $400 locomotive somewhere for repair, you want it going to someone who knows what they're doing.
